Michael Day Pitts

Michael Day Pitts, born on November 2, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Stamford, Connecticut. Michael's passing has left an enormous hole in the hearts of those who loved him, but his legacy of light and love will carry on in the many lives he touched. Michael was a beloved spouse to Patricia (Figueroa) Pitts and a devoted parent to their son, Brandon Day Pitts. He is survived by his sister, Robin (Jim) Miles and brother, Stephen (Susan) Pitts along with niece and nephews Samatha, Alan, and Christopher. Michael held a special place in the heart of his niece, Angela (Damian) Winchel, along with her children Sophia Mae, Piper Grace, and Bellamy Rose and nephew, Dominic Edwards. He is survived by Stepmother, Doris Pitts and stepsister, Sandy (Ira) King. Michael loved art in all forms. He played and danced on several Broadway plays, as well as directed some theater shows in New Canaan, CT. He shared this love by teaching many theatrical classes around the world and pursuing a career as a yoga teacher later in life. Yoga helped him focus on finding balance in one’s life spiritually and physically. Michael helped many find peace within themselves and prosper through their everyday life through yoga. Michael’s perseverance and mental toughness are what gave him strength and power to battle cancer for many years. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Robert Day Pitts, and mother, Carol Elizabeth Pitts. In honor of Michael’s memory and to assist with funeral expenses, the family kindly requests donations in lieu of flowers. May Michael’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire love and kindness in the world. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 834 Stillwater Road, in Stamford, CT. A Graveside service will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 21st at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rock Rimmon Road, in Stamford, CT.
